Roman clepsydra
Ceramic reproduction of a roman clepsydra found at Alcalá de Henares, Madrid (SECAH 2011), dated back to first century AD. Traditionally considered by European Archaeology as water clocks, clepsydras have a use that is closer to other functions like capturing and distributing liquids, both for domestic purposes of storing and cooking and in ceremonies at sanctuaries and burials (Trabajos de Prehistoria 2006). The piece, similar to a balsamary, has several perforations ath nase that allow the slow release of a liquid.
